This is one crocodile soft toy you just have to hug. Maybe because it's sitting up and ready for a cuddle? Or maybe it's all about its face, with those soft eyes? My daughter fell in love with this crocodile soft toy when she first clapped eyes on it and said she wanted one from Santa!

About Australian crocodiles

Would you reckon that a crocodiles closest relatives are birds and dinosaurs? Well, it's definitely true. Here in Australia we have two types, saltwater and freshwater.

Saltwater crocs are the biggest and they grow between 4 metres (13 feet) to 7  metres (23 feet) long. They hang out in rivers, lagoons, swamps and estuaries along the tropical parts of Queensland and northern half of Australia. Beaches are also a favourite spot.

Freshwater crocs

These crocs live inland, preferring freshwater tropical areas, although they can be found where the tide comes in at the mouth of a river. This means you can sometimes find freshwater and saltwater crocodiles in the same area. Freshwater crocs are much smaller, females grow up to 2 m and males up to 3 m long.

What do they eat?

According to their size, saltwater crocodiles eat larger mammals. As adults, Saltwater crocs are capable of eating large mammals such as horses and cattle, attacking them as they drink at waterholes. They are also known to eat other crocodiles too. Larger size crocs (over 3m long) will also attack humans. This is why it's so important to steer clear of their habitat!

Freshwater crocodiles like to eat smaller things such as fish, frogs, waterbirds, snakes that are found near rivers.

Scary huh! With their 24 sharp teeth combined with the shape of their jaws, they have one of the strongest bites in the world. When they eat, they don't chew, they rip it apart and swallow.

Other interesting things

If you see a crocodile with it's jaw open, it's because they're cooling themselves.

While the skin on their back is bony and makes their skin bullet proof! Yes that's right! The skin on their belly is the opposite and is soft.

At night, their eyes appear as red dots.

International deliveries

For international orders, you can choose your package to be delivered via Australia Post or DHL.

Shipping charges are based on packaging, total weight, cubic size of your order and destination.

Australia Post

Economy Air Mail: it’s cheap but it’s also the slowest way to post and you can’t track your package. Australia Post says to allow at least 12 business days for delivery. If you live outside of a metropolitan area, then allow even longer.

Standard Air Mail: tracking is available to most countries. Australia Post estimates at least 8 business days for your package to arrive. If you live outside of a metropolitan area, then it will take longer.

Express International Post: tracking is available to most countries. Australia Post estimates at least 5 business days for your package to arrive. If you live outside of a metropolitan area, then it will take longer.

Where’s my parcel?

All sorts of things can hold up a delivery; customs delays, incorrect delivery address given, local transport issues, time of year e.g. Christmas, major events including extreme weather, even postal strikes.

The estimated arrival for each of the shipping options is just that, an estimate. Australia Post can’t guarantee when your parcel will arrive (and neither can we, Oz About Oz).

We will email your tracking number (for Standard Air Mail or Express International Post) so you check the progress of your parcel.

DHL

Milestone tracking is available to you. Further updates can also be obtained directly on the destination postal website as well.
